I believe in body-positivity but the really lovey-dovey “embrace yourself,” “love yourself,” “embrace your flaws” etc. stuff can make me feel really uncomfortable and alienated. I can’t embrace a body that feels like a prison. My gender dysphoria is not going away any time soon.
I’m also all for it but, yeah, I feel like people kind of…overlook that sometimes issues aren’t just caused by ~~~beauty ideals~~~?
It’s good to not hold yourself up to those, and accept yourself as just as worthy of love and affection and whatever as someone who fits them closer, but it’s also your body and you’re allowed to have whatever feelings you want. And if you want to change it to make you happier and feel more comfortable in it, then that’s absolutely you’re right and doesn’t mean you fail at body positivity.
